Exports recover to pre-crisis values

Portuguese exports of goods continue to rise. Data are from the National Institute of Statistics and refer to the second quarter of the year. According to INE, Portuguese exports of goods increased by 21.4% in June compared to the same month in 2020, thus being 8% higher than in June 2019. In other words, data from INE indicate that exports reach levels above the pre-crisis period.
To reinforce this fact, the Port of Lisbon also continues to increase the number of volumes processed. At the end of the first semester, the Port of Lisbon handled more than 4,820 million tons, which represents an increase of 15.7% over the same period in 2020.
Despite moving more cargo, the number of ships that entered the Port of Lisbon is still below that recorded in the same period in 2020, thus proving that the crisis in maritime transport is still being felt.
